Discovering the Undiscovered: Harold the Toddler Dino
Project Information:
Date: April 28, 2024
Client: Student Project
Role: Production Artist, Designer, Creative Director
Size: 8.5 x 11 inches
Software/Media: Illustrator
Project Description:
In this student assigned project, Harold the Dino was made using shapes, the pen tool, selection, direct selection, and other tools. First, a thumbnail sketch was imported as the first layer to trace over and lock to avoid any editing. Next, the head was made using two circles and merging the paths to create one shape. Circles were used for the mouth, eyes, and nose. However, the nostrils were made using the rectangle tool and editing using the direct select tool. The body was made using two circles that were in separate layers and sent behind the head layer. Arms were made after a tutorial demonstration from Burke using the pen tool to create arms and ellipses for hands. The legs were made and added to different layers so that one leg was in front of the body and one was behind. Talons on feet were made using rectangles and direct select. The tail was on a separate layer and made using a pen tool and duplicated (and readjusted) circles.
